CD PlayRight's Trio + for DVD,
Tired of buying cheap DVD-R media just to find out, you get what you pay for. As most of you know I have a small in house CD/DVD duplication systems that I do a lot of testing as well creating products for sale on CDR and DVDR media. I have tested a product that may just be the answer to the stack of coasters I make each week. I was talking with Dave Whitesel over at CDPlayRight.com a couple weeks back about the great product he sales, Trio + for DVD, which may be the best way to decrease that coaster collection if you buy the cheap DVDR media or any media. What is Trio Plus for DVD you ask?? CD PlayRight's Trio Plus for DVD includes four separate products: DVD Quick Wipes, a patented DVD Repair Kit, a 2 0z spray bottle of DVD Quick Shield ND (treats 300 discs) and a 2 oz Quick Shield ( cleans and protects 300 discs. Each product serves a different purpose. The Quick Wipes are designed to quickly remove dust, dirt and fingerprints that might cause degraded performance. The Repair Kit actually lets you repair scratches on a discs surface. While the two chemicle thin film sprays Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield are designed to add a scratch-resistant 100% laser neutral coating on the disc surface, to protect it from the effects of routine handling. The Repair Kit, the Quick Shield ND and Quick Shields are by far the most important items. The DVD Repair Kit contains small packets of disc Polish and Finish, a number of soft yellow application cloth, and the necessary instructions for use. You need to carefully read the instructions in order to properly repair the disc. The exact procedure to follow will depend on the type of damage on the disc, so you'll need to evaluate the disc's condition before you start. There is three repair procedures: one for dirt and smudges, one for light scratches, and one for more severe scratches. The two Quick Shield formulations are used to keep your discs surfaces in as near pristine condition as possible. These easy to use sprays should be applied to every new disc you buy, especially on blank media, and a word of caution, Never use painted or embroidered cloth these extras may scratch the disc, always use a soft cloth or one like it, that come with the Trio plus for DVD. Dave sent me a free sample just for testing purposes, to try his Trio for DVD in a different way than I had ever thought of. As Dave and I talked about all the coasters I had during a normal run of 50 cheap DVD-R's, there was always at least 6-8 bad DVD-R's per spindle that the CD/DVD Duplicator would kick out into the trash bin. He suggested that I use Trio for DVD Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield that came in a spray bottle before I put the DVD-R's in the duplicator, I thought to myself I know Trio for DVD is a great product for repairing CD's and DVD' s and to add a scratch resistant surface on but I never thought about applying Trio for DVD before I burned the DVD-R's in the duplicator. The truth is; our handling these discs is causing many of them to fail, when our customers treat DVD like CD's, they just wont stand up. Dave sent Trio for DVD the very next day. Great guy by the way. Now 6-8 bad discs may not seem like much to you if you are only burning 50and never burn another one, But if you have 400 disc to burn by the weekend and you have 6 to 8 bad disc per run, well that adds up to 48 to 64 disc, that can get into your profit margin real fast, so the way I see it I have two options buy the $5-10 name brand media or give Trio for DVD a try. I received Trio for DVD in the mail two days later and I had to try it out, after reading the instruction on how to apply the Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield to the new disc, I spent the next hour making sure I applied the Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield correctly, although I could have applied it a lot faster, during a test like this I wanted to make sure I applied Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield correctly as the instructions said that came with the products. After applying CD PlayRight's Trio for DVD Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield, I set the duplicator up exactly as I had before using the same media same content on the media, but this time I had applied Trio for DVD Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield. Amazing results, after waiting on the duplicator to complete the process of burning all 50 discs, I only had one disc out of the 50 that hit the trash bin. That sure changed my mind about CD PlayRight's Trio for DVD Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield. I will use Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield on all discs before I even think about burning them. CD PlayRight's Trio for DVD Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield saved me money and time and that is the kind of product that will be keep on hand for all my media applications, well, I'm extremely impressed. If you plan to distribute your DVD's to anyone or any company that plan to use the DVD's in a high usage situation, because even the slightest scratch can lead to degraded video or sound performance, or worse... render a disc unplayable. These products are ideally suited to the pre and post production side of our business'. Even if your not replicating, I am beginning to discover just how much a discs surface suffers between my shop and the persons down the line. I highly recommend using CD PlayRight's Trio for DVD Quick Shield ND and Quick Shield before you burn or ship your DVD's. You may even want to save those coasters, and give these products a shot at restoring them. CD PlayRight's kit works on all optical disc formats, including laserdisc). The DVD Repair Kit contains enough Polish and Finish to repair 12 discs. The application cloths provided can (if thoroughly rinsed and allowed to dry) be reused as many times as needed. There's no other way to say it - the kit really works. As I said before, the DVD Quick Shield product is designed to add a scratch-resistant coating to the disc surface, to prevent future damage. It also helps to prevent dust and dirt from clinging to the disc. All in all, I'm extremely impressed with Trio for DVD. I've already started treating my DVD collection with Quick Shield, for the added scratch protection. For video retailers , libraries, who rent DVDs, CD PlayRight's Trio for DVD is a must have. And for anyone else, it's well worth the price to protect your DVD investment. As always, I welcome your comments.
